This course moves beyond simply making art—it teaches students why certain design choices work and how to use them effectively
How the course work:
This art course is available in a PDF printable course book or online. It is the same work just different formats.
The course uses an Ellen McHenry’s coursebook as its foundation. However, we have expanded it significantly to provide a richer and more in-depth learning experience. Additional learning materials, instructional videos, research assignments, and creative projects have been added to extend the program into a structured half-year or full-year course.
The curriculum is organized into weekly lessons and assignments and is divided into two main sections:
Section 1:
Students will learn the core principles of design and composition, research artistic styles and influential artists, and complete smaller focused artworks to practice individual concepts.
Section 2:
Students will apply what they’ve learned through larger, more comprehensive projects. This section emphasizes review, refinement, and practical implementation of design principles in finished artworks.

Are there any prerequisites?
The only true prerequisite is a love for art and a willingness to learn and grow. While prior knowledge of art principles or color theory can be helpful, it is not required. Beginners are welcome and will be able to complete the course successfully with dedication and effort.

A last thought
This course is designed to inspire creativity, strengthen artistic skills, and equip students with a solid foundation in design and composition; preparing them for future studies, creative careers, or simply a lifelong enjoyment of art.
